Die Fledermaus - Schedule, Program & Tickets
Die Fledermaus
Nowhere else is "Die Fledermaus" as at home as at the Vienna Volksoper. First performed in Vienna in 1874, Johann Strauss' masterpiece is regarded as the highlight of the golden operetta era. One lies and cheats one another and blames the alcohol for it, experiences disguises, confusions and flirtations in the waltz clock: "Happy is he who forgets," is the motto. And when, after a sumptuous dinner with Prince Orlofsky, the whole party reunites in jail, one is quickly reconciled, for "all was only the champagne blame."
